Does anyone have a trigger system sump, wether it be the crystal or ruby version. I know they are pricey and you can do a DIY for a lot less cheaper but I really am interested in purchasing one since I can get it for a good deal. Just want to know the pros and cons on this sump.

I've got one of the crystal ones and the build quality is great. I haven't gotten to use it yet because I am still in the build process of my tank. The only thing I have seen that I don't like is that there is no place for a filter sock on the drain that goes to the refugium section. Wish I had more to tell you right now.

Isnt the filter sock good enough in the first compartment where the protein skimmer goes? I guess I'm talking about the elite/ruby 30. Which one did you go with?

The elite crystal. its just like the ruby but doesnt have the red acrylic. It's not a big issue i would just rather not need to worry about cleaning detritus from the tank out of my refugium section.

I have the trigger ruby 36 e. I haven't used mine yet either, still in the build process.... Tank is arriving today. It's a very solid sump and I feel it's a good thing not having a sock to the refugium area. Whatever you put in there needs some food and a sock might keep that from happening.

Thank you, thats good to know. I guess I'll remove my filter sock once I get the sump in. Did you replace the filter sock with filter floss somewhere else in the sump?

I will be running my sump with the 2 socks in the skimmer section.

I have one I like it but you can build one your self. The greatest ideal was the 2 egg Crete where you can put pads or media so any algae can't get into your display.

How would you plumb this sump to work with a herbie. I only have 2 lines, one is for the full siphon, the other is for the emergency drain. I am under the impression that I cannot T the herbie to divert it to the refugium.
