They are either a type of branching coralline algae or fromniferens. You can look at any of the LR hitchhikers guides and they both can look like that. With a more clear picture you can tell which. If there are fine hairlike things coming out of the ends they are fromniferens, if not they are just a type of bright red branching coralline algae.
