Dyndns still offers a free service, but you have to sign up for the 20 dollar service as a trial (1 month free) and remember to cancel it before it charges you to get the free service.

You do not need a computer to use them. They have a built in webserver so once they are setup you just login to the webpage to gain access. It is not easy for most people to set it up so that you can access it from outside your home though. You have to setup port forwarding and DDNS.

Which model from foscam allows you to zoom? I only saw ones that pan and tilt.

Well the Foscam will not zoom. The IP cam viewer has a zoom button but it does not work since the foscam cannot zoom in. Swanny must be zooming with his other cam which was a linksys.

Comcast is my ISP and does not assign static IP addresses - which are helpful. So I purchased one from dyndns for $20 year (15 day free trial). Then I downloaded Foscam Survilance Pro for my IPhone (4) - that was $4.99. The app does allow you to zoom using the "pinch-gesture" feature of the iPhone. You do lose resolution, but can still see what is going on. I am sure there is a better way t do this, but after 14 hurs over 2 days, I gave up and yielded to the above configuraton. It works great now. I have two cameras running and can view them from any where using 3G. It was a royal pain in the neck for someone like me that is not computer savvy. You also need to use your routers port forwarding feature (I couldn't spell router until 2 days ago!) Good luck!
