Just FYI PVC is not "starboard" - which is HDPE.

I don't have a Planet Aquarium tank but I do have a tank with a PVC bottom - it's about 1" thick or so. No problems with it and its nice not ever having to worry about it breaking. I even drilled some holes in it at one point for a paladarium and have since re-sealed them with some 3/8" PVC sheet and PVC glue.

I used a piece of beige acrylic board that I bought online for the bottom of my reef. You can't go wrong with bare bottom.
You have to have a rimless tank right? No way I can get that in if I were to get one with cross bracing?

I restarted one of my tanks barebottom and I went with black acrylic for the bottom layer. I LOVE it. Just a small note though - make sure you have enough rock to balance out the bacteria that would have lived in the sand.

I've seen some larger tanks with braces use multiple pieces of whatever their bottom layer is. Maybe you'll have to do two+ pieces to get it past the brace?

Ooo. Now black might look good too. I was thinking white like CADE aquariums have theirs

I prefer black sand in my aquariums, so I thought, why not black acrylic for the bottom. It's definitely a -look-

Yeah I knew I'd be affecting my lighting in that tank, but the light is pretty strong to begin with, and the black bottom is so sleek. Of course when it gets covered with encrusting whatevers it'll be different, but that's the distant future.
