Apex A3 optical sensor for ATO

Trying to find some information as to whether you can use the optical sensor that comes with the A3 apex as an ATO. If so can you add another sensor for a shut off in the event it over fills. I have not used a controller before but want to add one for my current 65 gallon Tideline AIO build. If this is possible, what would be needed besides a pump to move the water from the ATO container to the tank?

Two optical sensors and a float valve are what is used by Neptune's own ATK, so if you add another optical sensor and float valve, you can replicate that and have multiple redundancies to help prevent a failure.
