Apex and carbon doser for caked

So very basic question. I have heard people say they the relationship between your apex and carbon doser on a calcium reactor is if you want a ph of 6.8 in the reactor you set the apex to close the selenium st 6.9 and to open it at 6.7...

But forgive me for not knowing but the only way to manipulate the carbon doser would be to have it plugged into a eb8 outlet and just give it power and don’t give it power at those points right? Thst doesn’t actually open and close the selenoid would it?

I’m about to step past non controller. 2 part for the last 10 years and enter the world of an apex and a calcium reactor so I might have lots of questions hahah ;)

The way solenoids work is they are either normally open (NO) or normal closed (NC) and switch to the opposite state when power is supplied. So you would plug it in to the EB8 outlet and activate the solenoid by turning the power on/off at that outlet based on pH.

Nice thanks. So I assume the goal is to balance the co2 delivery with the carbon doser so the apex doesn’t have to trigger the on off a bunch of times. Have it set for 6.8 and 6.7 on off for example if it hits either. But to get it to 6.75 with the bubble count in a perfect world so it just maintains in the middle without on off cycles?

Yes, you should adjust the bubble count such that mostly the pH is maintained in the proper range without the solenoid. Try to use the solenoid as a backup, not your primary means of controlling the pH. Solenoids can fail.
