Energy Bar ports can fail but I have never seen one fail open just closed. Happens all the time. I have not only a UPS on my tank gear but a whole house surge protector, the quality of the EB is really the problem. Neptunes are way to sensitive to change and fail at a regular rate. I have had 3 EBs in the last 8 years, 1 had to be completely replaced because half of it died and the other 2 have lost at least 3 ports a piece.
