Howdy,

Just bouncing off y'all. I recently got around to installing my UV sterilizer. When I plumbed my 425xl I installed a manifold for reactors / uv's. My manifolder plumbs off my return pump.

Currently installed, my UV takes the water from the return pump manifold and dumps back into the first chamber of my sump. I am now thinking I am just recirculating a ton of water within the sump and removing re-circulation from the DT.

What do y'all suggest I do?

My personal opinion if you want to effectively use a UV sterilizer is you should have two return pumps, one direct from the sump to the display tank and another that goes through a UV sterilizer into the display tank. That way you can get the full flow out of one return pump and tune the other for whatever you're trying to use the UV sterilizer for (most have two flow settings, one for algae and one for parasites). I'm not sure your aquarium is really set up for this without significant changes to the plumbing. But yes, running a UV from the return pump back to the first chamber of the sump is not ideal.

Against my initial plans to use manifold I purchased another DC return pump and will take water from first chamber and return to return pump chamber
