Watched my elos 70 grow a seam about 1/16 of an inch a week. tank had been taken down at least 3 times..... and left dry for over a couple years

Planet Aquariums in Texas. You will find similar pricing and real Schedule 40 plumbing. Oh, and you can pick your type of plumbing as well.

my logic says you own a Red Sea and are just defending your purchase. Im saying nothing of logic. Im going by actual tanks i have seen at club members houses with my own eyes, and former dealers i know personally who I used to sell corals to. So no assumption. Verified facts only

Living in America, i can say what i want, and you are free to find it distasteful. The poor people building those tanks, Volvos and iPhones dont have that privilege. So keep supporting those oppressors just so you can get your stuff.

Sure. Its hard not to be. But I make a conscious effort to buy American Made first wherever possible. And as for aquariums, my Planet supported workers in Texas, and the price was the same as a Red Sea, or Waterbox. And its way better quality, and their 5 year warranty shows they believe in it too. Im not sure if you are aware what supporting the Chinese economy does, but they are not big on human rights, free speech, or many of the other things Americans take for granted. I prefer to be part of the solution, and not the problem. I support American companies and workers whenever i can. And yes, sometimes it costs more. I paid $400 for my Danner hiking boots, because they are hand made in Oregon, and not the imported Danners that cost half. Somebody has to do
the right thing and support America and American workers, so might as well be me.

Actually, I don’t own one. Just what I’ve seen, scrapers are the cause most of the time.

Scrapers can't make it inside the structural seams. That is what is failing. Especially the front panel falling forward at the top. There was also the issue with the stands, where there wasn't enough support causing the top of the stand to deflect

Sure the boots are made in America with imported goods. Same as red wing , ll bean and so on. Toyota is assembled in America with imported parts. So is caterpillar even though they have American flags on all there equipment.

boots made in America with imported parts. Just like everything else. Caterpillar is an American company with most of there goods coming from over seas. Even though there’s an American flag on all there equipment. Gm was given billions of dollars to help them survive but the money went to there ceos and the workers get to pick up the scraps. Don’t kid your self corruption is king

Plus, how do you know it’s the manufacturing method and not a design flaw that caused failures? What is their failure rate? Is it greater than the average for the industry?

sorry but Chinese built and shipped to the US products are cheaply made garbage.

Got 2 tanks leaks recently. Both same tank. The first time it started slowly, along the side. Did not see it until the hardwood floor was very soaked. I emptied as much as possible to that 40G in buckets with fish and rocks. Husband insisted in fixing the tank. He said there was plenty of safe product available at Home Depot. We fixed it , checked for leaks and put it back together. But it started leaking again, a few month later. This time I refused to fix it and bought a new tank. Hopefully, it will not happen anymore.
Now I am very afraid for my 120 G. That would be a disaster. it is also an old tank, found on the road side... and rebuilt by my husband. I have been using it for 5 or 6 years. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Never had a leak. I avoid questionable larger tanks (like red sea) and smaller ones with curved edges and such.

I would use acrylic or eurobrace for very large tanks. Overall I just try to play it smart.

Make sure your stand is level and structurally sound. As much as we blame tanks... stands are a cause of leaks many times.

Regardless of failure rate... they were deleting comments and trying to hide it.

It also blows my mind they use such a crappy gate valve for the cost of the tank :rolleyes:

An LFS told me a lot of leaks are caused by flow powerheads on the sides of the tank blasting crashing waves on the other side of the tank 24. 7?

What display tank has crashing waves? That sounds like a salt creep disaster.

It's just a figure of speech. I think what he's referring to is something like an MP40 set on pulse mode at 100%. So your constantly blasting a wave of water at the side glass of your tank which overtime may cause stress to the seam and leaks.

I know that was a fad for awhile but that seems to have fallen out of popularity. At least I notice a lot more random flow in videos. Tanks with other types of flow patterns leak too as well as freshwater tanks.

What you say reflects on you. And your posts speak volumes. How often do you go to China? How long do you stay? Why not worry more about the oppression at home?
