I just built a double rack of acrylic aquariums that are all tied into each other with one drain to the sump. I have a reefmat 500 in the sump.
This is a clownfish grow out system so daily cleaning will be necessary.
If I take a 1" slip strainer and glue the strainer part into a hose then slip the other end into my 1" return this should be a pretty handy tool to keep the bottoms of the tank clean. I'm not sure how fast it will make me use rolls of filter but not having to siphon to a bucket sounds pretty cool. I'll still do my weekly water changes, this system is 130 gallons. The sump is full of live rock and one piece of rock in each chamber.
