Hi y’all,

I’m getting ready to mount my 48” AL DX18 with 2 kessils in the middle and can’t decide how to mount it. At first I wanted to mount from ceiling then decided I wouldn’t like the wires hanging so instead I was going to go with the floating wall mounts made by AL but their limitation is that you can only have the tank 3.75in away from the wall and mine is about 5in.
Two questions:
1. I emailed AL about this too but any of you find a good way to mount the floating wall mounts for tanks more than 4in away from the wall?
2. I know there is some smart peeps here any of you mount them in a unique or with different mounts? Can you all please share.

Thanks

Just to update if anyone needs the info after me. Dave from @AquaticLifeProducts responded to my email before anyone on R2R responded. The new floating wall mounts come with extensions. So if anyone has a external overflow you can still buy and use the floating AL wall mount. One I order and install I will be posting on my build thread so check that out later

Just an update:

I ordered the mount from Marine Depot but I guess they still had the old boxes without the extension pieces. I contact Aquatic Life and Dave made it a real easy fix. Dave overnighted the extension pieces to me. I agree that we shouldn’t have to go through this in the first place but if anyone is reading Aquatic Life customer service was phenomenal.

I will update pics once installed.

Any updated pictures? I just ordered this wall mount for my tank which is close to 6" off the wall. Dave told me the extenders come with the package, a customer service rep with BRS told me they dont and that other folks using shelving brackets.... of course Im going to stick with Daves word though. How far off the wall is your tank? and do you think I will be good with my tank being almost 6" off?

Sorry I’ve been a bit lazy and haven’t put them up yet but when I ordered mine from Marinedepot it did not come with the extension pieces but a quick email to Dave and he sends them to you in like 2days. I they will be very good for you tank. Mine is about 7-8in off the wall. I’m planning on finishing it by this weekend so I will update progress

Friendly bump for pics of the extenders?
Sorry Marc and the rest of the peeps. Been pretty busy with a couple new businesses and also the PS5 didn’t help either. I put it up a few days ago and I’m very happy. I could’ve extended it out a little more as the fixture still sits towards the back but I didn’t want to go over the recommendation of 8in.
it is very easy to instal and it comes with longer cables to be able to extend out and the entire structure feels stable. Here are some pics and feel free to ask any questions you may have. I installed it with a friend and would recommend that but it would be possible to do it alone as well.

I couldn’t be happier with Aquaticlife support. I needed new bracket screws and they got them out to me ASAP. I needed non-coated T5 holders and they were added into the shipment. I was looking for a used 61” system to replace my 48” and they had a few open box/return models they were willing to sell at a reduced cost. They are the industry goal for great customer support in my opinion.

I run one of their hybrid units on both of my tanks. Love the look, the performance, and the simplicity.

Yes I agree their customer service was awesome. I would have preferred not needing to contact them for an extension but in all honesty they are awesome. Dave helped me from the minute I bought the mount. Not saying other companies are worse but the customer service I got from aquatic life couldn’t have been any better

I have a similar setup in the works but I'm eurobraced and 6.5" from the wall. Your picture looks closer to 8" away but that could be angle of photo. At any rate it looks like you are lined up with the back of the tank wondering how far off the front are you?

Also wondering if 48" is wide enough for a 5' tank?

Thanks,

David h
