Aquatic Life T5 Hybrid with Kessil AP700

Hey @crabs_mcjones, now that you've had the light for a while, would you do it again? I am really thinking about taking the plunge with the waterbox on the way. Would you do anything different? I was thinking of getting a 36" unit for the 48" tank to curb some of the light bleed on the sides. It would sit 6' in on each side. Good idea or no, get the 48"? This will go with my 2 Hydra 26HDs

Would I do it again? 110% absolutely! Led T5 combo has got to be the best decision I've ever made. My corals are growing very well, great growth patterns, and everything is coloring up beautifully (after a little mishap that caused alot of stuff to bleach out) would highly recommend

In my honest opinion I say go as long as the tank. Could you use the 36 on a 48 tank?...probably, but if they offer a 48 why not use it and have 100% coverage

What was the mishap? With the lights?, because I started slow with the T5's and am only up to 4 hours on and most of my SPS bleached at the tips. Even lowered my Kessil's from 65% to 50% during the time the T5's are on.

My mishap was nothing light related. To this day I'm still not sure what, but something toxic got introduced into my tank, and alot of corals bleached out. I was up pretty much all night that night doing water changes. My total water volume is right around 60 gallons and I'll bet I changed out about 36 gallons before everything calmed down.

Love mine. No issues with any bleaching, raised the height of the lights on mine by about 6 inches higher then when it just just the AP700s. Left the intensity and colors of the Kessils the same as before the hybrid fixture.

8 inches off the waters surface, two ati blue+ and two ati actinic kessil ap700 ramps up to 30% on ocean blue 4

Thanks for starting this chain. Anyone have AP700 and T5 in a wood canopy? If yes, any heat issues? I’m getting ready to install 2 48inch blue + in my canopy.

I am running 6 t5 bulbs + 2 kessil ap 700’s. I was nervous about heat as well my canopy is mostly closed (panels hung to the rim of the tank and a solid platform above). I put a 12$ Walmart fan inside and my tank temps actually dropped (was previously running all led).

The settings I had I was getting anywhere from 230 near the bottom to 370 at the top of the corals all over my 40 breeder
