I have a new Aqueon 29 gallon that bows 3/16ths of an inch (nearly 5mm) when filled.

Last night, I emailed Aqueon, then turned to google and previous forum posts. From what I read, that was way too much bowing and at high risk of bursting. I drained the tank. I started looking into options to add a center brace or possibly exchange the tank.

Then Aqueon's warranty lead got back to me and said that amount of bowing is perfectly fine. Now I'm conflicted on what I should do or if I even need to do anything besides fill it back up.

Opinions? Advice? I'm also curious if anyone has experience with this tank, with tank bowing, or with adding a DIY center brace.

it should not bow. I'd swap it for a replacement if it is new.

The last straight framed 29 gallon tank I had was a couple decades ago. It did not bow. But I don't think it was Aqueon though.

Similar to aqueon, I had a marine land that all their corners were 90 degrees, like all uneven glass.. their customer service made it seem like not a big deal.

They bow. It's normal. You could add a center brace if you are worried, but they definitely bow
