Best way to trap this A hole. He’s making life hell for my bi colored blenny, clown, and surprising my blue damsel. My yellow watchman stays out the way in his cave. And the funny thing is he was added like 7 maybe 8 months after everyone else as a replacement for my flame hawk that when carpet surfing.

I use this and the price is ridiculous. Lucky I had a fellow reefer let me borrow theirs. Worked great too

Hawkfish are tough to catch because they normally really tuck their bodies into crevices when the lights go out (or they are startled). That eliminates the "lights on in the middle of the night" method. Really only way is to use a trap. Is he an aggressive eater? I would lay it down right by his area and bait it with food.

out of all the hawkfish, with consideration of tank size & mates of course, the arc eye has always shown to be the most feisty. i have one in a 40g cube with a maroon clown… the only fish i’ve found that can hold his own.

i hope you’ve caught it by now! if not- best of luck… only solution i could recommend is getting another fish to put the hawkfish in its place, however even that is unpredictable.

Hey It’s been some time lol. But I did end up catching him with a trap i borrowed from a fellow reefer. Tank harmony was restored as soon as he was taken out.
