Throw some more cardinals in also try the sunburst anthias. Some cool picks are maybe mandarins when your tanks mature, sunburst anthias, blue jaw trigger, I love mine to death, the fusi cave gobies are super cool I have one currently I’m going to move it to my 100 gallon I think idk, how often do you see yours? The general amount of fish seems fine, my stocking philosophy is moreso I add fish until territory gets scarce because i like seeing a lot of little fish darting around my tank, i definitely keep less of the bigger guys because those arent really cryptic reef dwellers. The other reason id stop is if I have to do constant water changes to keep nutrients in control which is another problem if there’s too many fish however it isnt exactly a limiting factor depending how insane someone is you can do daily water changes if the need for nutrient export is that bad

I love my blue jaws as well. They are super cool fish, but it seems like almost every trigger that I had, no matter if it's blue jaw or Niger, tend to become more aggressive as they get older. Start out as sweet little community fish and end up chomping on your shrimp and biting small fish in half.

I haven't seen my current pair of blue jaws murder anything yet, but the female is getting more aggressive. She attacks my cleaning magnet when I clean the glass and my Tunze grabber. She spends all day picking up snail/crab shells and dropping them on my monti caps.
How big do they get when this starts, mine is like 5” right now

I think Niger Triggers are worse than Blue Jaw. My current male blue jaw is still pretty sweet. Like I said, the female likes to attack the magfloat and drop shells on my monti caps. I haven't seen either harass other fish and I don't currently have any shrimp in that tank. They are both around 5 inches.

I think my last Niger started murdering stuff around 6 or 7 inches. He was a big boy. I'd drop some chromis in the tank hand he'd bite a couple of them in half. I believe he did the same to a firefish. I can remember what all he murdered. That was about 10 years ago.

I ended up donating him to the LFS. It was shame. He was a beautiful fish. Big ol lyre tail. The guy at the LFS put him in a bag to float him and he bit a hole in the bag. Water was spraying out of it.

@The_DuckTank

I'm surprised no one has sad this: The puffer is a problem. They eat inverts, they hunt at night, so the sand sleepers are going to be at risk, and they will add considerable bio-load to the system.

Because the OP said

Please note there is a porcupine puffer on this list ( my wife’s must have fish ) I am well aware of the possible difficulties having this fish in a reef environment so no need to comment on that lol
