Hello,
The magnets that hold the wave maker in place…are they waterproof?

I have an AIO and instead of putting the magnet outside the tank to hold up the wave maker, I put it in the rear compartment where the water pump is located so it is full in the aquarium water.

I had a streak of fishes dying, literally all of them one by one and can’t figure out why. All water parameters were normal. Corals are thriving. Fishes looked spotless before they died.

Thanks.

Typically the inside magnets are sealed but the outside magnets aren't always. Are you seeing a lot of algae growth?

Not sure of what kind of magnets you are using. You can get

Neodymium Rare Earth Disc Magnets N52 with Waterproof Black Plastic Coating

from totalelement.com these would eliminate the problem if it turns out to be your magnets.

The magnets were supplied with the wave maker. They looked sealed. I do see a seam on the plastic enclosing the magnet.

I have algae on the glass but minor. Also have some bubble algae on the rocks. Why?
When magnets start leaching you can have an increase in iron which fuels algae growth. I lost a tank full of corals from algae growth due to a rusted magnet and suffered no fish death.

It could be the magnet still, just not rust in my opinion.

Maybe there's a non-reef safe adhesive on the outer magnet?
