Are purple colored sps more sensitive in general? I've been feeding more lately and my nitrates went up and I noticed my purple acros are always the first to fade in color. And whenever this happens they are always the last to color up as well. Is there any science behind this? Or is it just a coincidence?

I'm using esv salt with weakly water changes so I think my iodine levels should be at okay levels. but thanks, I'll give it a try. I actually just ordered a few additives I want to try out individually...one of which is iodine. any other input?

+1 on this Lee. I add 3 drop of Lugol's everyday. I have around 325g + water volume. I find that all blues and purples benefit from this.

What is it about Lugols that is helping the purples and blues? Purely additional iodine/iodide?

Pretty sure yeah... A old school stick head shared that with me years ago and I have always done it since he mentioned it.... At one point and time I was out of it and noticed all my blues and purple start to lighten up I ordered more and got back on track and they got that deep rich color right back...;)

yea I've read about that too but do you know why troylee? everytime I try to find the facts behind it I never come up with anything...just people repeating "iodine helps blues and purples" with no explanation

I "think" it has to do with skimming personally... Skimmers only remove about 30 percent docs and iodine is one that it depletes... Not positive on this but it's a theory I have heard and find to make the most sense..
