So I finally got my upgrade yesterday and will be going all out on this build.. upgrading from a 60gal cube to a glass cages 260gal display 72L x 34”W x 24”T and advance acrylics 125gal hybrid sump! Took a long breather from the hobby for about 12 years or so some of you might know me from back then or seen my threads and crazy diy stuff over the last 20 years or so.i got my feet wet again with a little cube 5 months ago and already outgrew it lol.. . New tank is up and running in its new home after a super long day yesterday! 7am we were at my buddies draining this thing and taking it apart, got it to my house and cleaned all the sand and re-used his rock with a large one I just acid washed. It was back up and running by 4pm the same day lol..Tank will be lit by metal halides and radions… still lots of work to do but within a week I’d say I’ll be pretty much done with it besides the canopy I wanna build and the bar I’m gonna build into the stand. This tank will be Sps dominated as my little cube is a frag tank for now holding about 50 different acros for the time being! More pics and goods to come as this thing gets built out and grown out!

Here’s something crazy! I grabbed all his acros the day before we drained it.. obviously some where encrusted to rocks etc.. yesterday morning after draining the tank I put the rocks in black trash bags for the day while doing what we had to do to get the tank moved and going.. after 7 hours of being out of the water the corals still survived and mostly Sps believe it or not. Here’s a big chunk of mystic monti

No worries, Lee, I was busting on but you already know that.

I am in the same "aches and pains" boat that I used to laugh about. I still laugh but its between my groans. Getting old is not for sissies!

The main thing is, though, that people like us still get excited like little kids on Christmas morning!

Tank cleared up pretty good over night.. did a bunch of testing yesterday and don’t seem to have any cycle going on so that’s good! My nitrates did test very low at 2ppm so I dosed some Neo nitro for now since I got no live stock in the tank besides clean up crew and the sps that were on the rocks lol.. if no ammonia shows up by Friday I’d guess it’s safe to move all my fish over to their new home! Yay! I’m also getting some afternoon sun on the tank for about 30 min that looks way cool! Just hoping it doesn’t become a algae problem down the line..

The water line in this tank is way to high so todays job is too drain it down a little bit and cut the overflow lower and put a new weir on it.. just made a quick comb to replace the current one.. when it’s running with flow the water is like 1/8” below the euro, without pumps it’s only down like 1/2”… also! The teeth have 1/4” slots that will let smaller fish through.. problem cured! Made this one deeper with 1/8” slots. Btw yes the emergency was high in this picture lol.. I was messing with the plumbing trying to get the water line down but it’s not possible.. I can drain the over flow box and suck air but the water line just doesn’t drop in the tank.. it needed more slots and deeper to cure it! Guess it was a problem with the previous owner also.

Just did it on my table saw… fastest and easiest way to do it lol.. I have a cnc router at my shop but we’re so busy they don’t have time to slip it in for me right now.

Had a feeling based on the bevel on each cut. Well done!
