On another note, since they don’t make the Infiniti anymore does anyone know what current Giesemann hanging kit would work with the the original studs from the original kit that are bolted Through the fixture just need to know what cable adjuster from them that would thread onto it?
Who told you they no longer make the Infiniti is BS wrong

Your halide bulbs are buzzing? Dude, there is something seriously wrong then. This is 100% of the time due to the ballast. Most of the time this happens to magnetic ballasts but can also happen with digitals, even the nicer ones. We had two hundred 1,000 watt ballasts in the warehouse and out of all those, two were vibrating the arc tubes causing a vibrating humming sound.

When you turn your lights on they should make a short, high pitched squeal kind of knnnneeeeeeee sound and then after about 30 seconds should have no sound at all. Except maybe the sound of your coral growing so fast. Lol

Yeah I believe it is the ballasts the ignitors and capacitors don’t seem to be making any noise. On my fixture I believe the ballasts are at each light since I have the version with the single plug with I believe the voltage converter box that’s mounted exterior.

So without ripping apart the fixture it’s hard to see/get to the ballasts. Idk it anyone knows which ones they are by chance

you should have a ballast and ignitor mounted at each bulb on the Infiniti units which are pulse start M80 and probably Tridonics brand. I'm not sure if the Hamilton bulb is a M80 pulse start bulb and has anything to do with it. I run Giesemann bulbs on my Infiniti with aexternal M80 magnetic ballast with zero hum. Below are the ballast that come on the Spectra units.

It still was humming/buzzing when I had the Giesemann 14500k bulbs in there. The humming/buzzing kinda changes from day to day some days it’s louder then others. They have what looks like a ballast on Giesemanns website in the parts but it’s unavailable now.

You have a Infiniti unit how they come from Europe with a step-up converter.I know they changed brands of ballast over the years did you check to see if the ballasts mounting screws are loose. Pic for reference of the ballast

interesting about the BLV halides. They are claiming 100,000 hour lifespan that is greater than 3 years @ 8 hr per day

That is more like 33 years at eight hours per day (or 22 years at 12 hour per day). Did you mean 10,000 hour lifespan?

What I am claiming is that they are vastly over stating there lifespan. Maybe until it goes dark yeah, but MH after 2 years need to be replaced

Ballasts aren’t easily accessible on my 72” one they are mounted under the bulb reflectors so I would have to more dismantle/take the light down to do so. Which I may do this Saturday if I have time hopefully

Vossloh is what Giesemann Europe uses now which can be purchased from many European websites since they are 230v 50hz

Yeah this ballast says 60hz but I’m assuming a 50hz ballast would run fine here since the capacitors and ignitors say 50/60hz. I sent all the info to a guy at Giesemann so I’ll see if they have them or not.

@rossco tank had 250w Radium's with Lumenarc Mini reflectors and IceCap ballasts. He also had 2 x 48" Sunbrite LED Actinics and of course a CaRx. Maybe he'll chime in here. Till this day... I've haven't seen another 75 gallon or Reefer for that matter- get this kind of growth in a 75/G tank. I wish I had the other pics were the corals were growing into the glass. He finally had to upgrade to a larger tank.

If you have...please post a pic.

Thanks for the awesome compliment!

Here are some of the last pictures I took of the 75 where I couldn't scrape the coralline off the front panel any more.

The third to last - kind of blurry picture is a closeup of the channel that was kept open from the flow from one of my closed loop outlets .

Guys I spoke to Giesemann recently and all their fixtures including Gemini and Spectra are still being manufactured and available for order at their online store.
The same story with the bulbs.
I dont know who tells you otherwise.

I asked because Im getting Spectra for my new Reefer setup. Halides are the best way to go if growth and health is more important to you than thunderbolts and mobile apps...

This is an awesome picture! I couldn’t even tell which one you were talking about until I looked really hard. The green polyp acro in front that’s blurry really makes the pic what it is :) Was that a basic tricolor type acro or something?
