My powder blue tang has disappeared . I can not find him anywhere in my tank . I have had him for 6 months or so and he has been happy and healthy . The top of my tank is open and there is a chance that if he did jump and went to the back he could of made it to the floor and I would not be able to see him. I am baffled to how and where this fish could have gone !

I can only speak from the ones I have, they are to a some small extent but, that's more when spooked by something.

Doubt he jumped out, more than likely he's hiding in the rock work. But if he's been hiding for a few days, then I'd say he died and the CUC removed the evidence.

Yea he has always been out in the open and I even fed as soon as I noticed him gone yesterday and nothing and he's def not shy to eating . I have searched my tank even looking up under everything from in the stand and no sign . My mystery is if he did die in the tank my CUC usually is noticeable to trace to the scene .. Still nothing . What a bummer!!

If he died in the rocks, you'll never see the evidence.
I had a Tang die in the rocks once, only way I knew it was, weeks later I was some weird looking bones, then I fugred it.

I've actually had a powder blue for a few years and while he doesn't jump really ever he does splash A LOT playing some game only he understand at the corner of the tank. I would say the odds are that he is still in the tank in some form.

I just got up this morning and my Powder Blue was missing out of my open QT tank with no CUC so I looked around and sure enough, he was on the floor dead ☹️

Truly sorry to hear that.
I hope this thread learns now to keep a dang lid on your tanks.

Better yet, did the OP ever smell a rotting tang on his floor after 2 9 years? Holy smokes this thread is old. Probably no physical evidence of the tang on the floor either haha.
