Had someone else feeding my tank while I was gone for a week and now one zoa has clear hairs growing all over it. The polyps are open and it doesnt seem to be bothered but I have a bad feeling its hydroids. Anyone have any clue what this is

Yes. Can carefully try to cover with gel superglue and inject Kalk powder mixed into a runny paste over them

Yea sorry they are.

I don’t know how to rid of them. But they do a number on zoas. I’m not sure if they spread through water column or just locally.

Will gel superglue burn the coral at all?
You don't want to get it over the zoa. Turn off water pumps allowing gel to harden 2-3 minutes. Superglue has a nice small applicator, which will allow you to target the hydroids

These are a smaller type. Are they contained to one area? Check nearby rock
I see a small patch right next to the frag was thinking of ripping the frag out and putting super glue on the bottom of some coral puddy and glueing it over. Do you think that would work?

I can easily pull the frag off the rocks and do it in a small bucket but the hydroids seem to be all along the stalk of the zoa how would i go about glueing that? I have gel super glue in hand but no calc powder

If it’s a small contained area, I’d turn the pumps off and either remove carefully or glue over. Your best bet is snuffing out whatever is there if it’s a small area.

again I don’t know if it reproduces in the water column, this is assuming it spreads locally like the bigger colonial hydroids.

hydrogen peroxide dips with a q tip may kill off the hydroids on the zoa. Double check that tho.

Was just trying to find out if hydrogen peroxide would and all I can find is people saying to try it I guess it couldnt hurt to try. Been googling non stop and I am pretty sure they are branching hydroids but i have had this frag for months got it when it was one head so these must have come from the water column
