Artificial Plants in saltwater

HI guys,

I just got my tank cycled and bought some fake plants at petsmart for them! TopFin Brand! Said they were saltwatwr safe but the support pieces of plastic at the bottom contain metal which is obviously no good for a tank! Im looking for recommendations for brands of plastic plants that people have used and know are safe! If anyone can help with suggestions that would be great!!!

While I understand your desire to decorate with plants, soon they become faded and/or brittle from the various elements of salt mixes while also reducing the natural look of a marine environment
Most plastic are however safe to use.
the reason for metal is to weight them down. You can do the same by gluing the plants to a piece of coral rock with silicone

I think once you put in fake decor you might realize you might not want to put fake plants and such in your tank.

Thanks for responding! Im worried the metal will affect my lobster negatively! Im just looking for brands that contain no metal whatsoever just to be safe! Im going for bright vibrant colors in my tank so a natural look isnt necessarily my main concern! Lol! Just an aquarium safe plant! This was my tank with the plants before i pulled them out! Lol! Not exactly natural but pretty to me!

I had it in for a day and thought it looked great im just more worried about my guy being safe and healthy! I took all the plants out now as a precaution!

You can get some real gorgonians. Easy to keep and look really cool and some macro algae. That would give your tank a more natural look

Ok thank you so much! I just want to be safe! He like to move the pieces around at night to and redecorate from the past 2 days of having the plants so i think he likes them in there lol! And yhe real plants u mentioned....do they grow in colder water??? Wouldnt mind researching that! Im really enjoying this tank and all the possibilities i can try!

Right now 50 but im gonna gradually increase it to 57 for Larrys ideal temp! The tank he was in before was 50 but didn't wanna shock him with that much of a temperature differential so slowly gonna bring it up over the next few weeks!

I got a chiller with a deal I got for a Red Sea cube. Got both for $50 and haven’t used them yet.

Hahaha dont worry i cant stop thinking about him either! He's quite special and been through so much already! After rescuing him from kids abusing him i knew i had to save him!!! So glad i finally got him home!!

good quarantine setups really do use em for some semblance of normalcy compared to pvc white pipes/never seen in nature
