ASAP Sump help

Ok i procrastinated my sump project but need it working before i acclimate my motherload off ebay in 8 hours. Included are pics of the project but my real problem is (other than not getting it done or testing it outside the tank) that the couplings to my CPR Overflow CS102 (1200gph) are leaking. Now they arent glued but TIGHT, its leaking from the pool hose. How do I get a water tight seal on that stuff. Is there a special coupling it screws onto? Ive heard alot of people just screw it into PVC fitting, and well, it didnt work for me. Any advice will help!

When I used mine, I bought a tapered PVC pipe adapter from Ameka aquatics which I glued to the black bulkhead in the bottom. The adapter has a tapered end to receive the PVC flex hose over it for a tight fit.

I would think those hoses need to be glued. I'm also not a big fan of that check valve positioned at such an angle. Those things need to be plumbed vertically. Brace yourself for several people to tell you today that you shouldn't be using a check valve at all.

I'm also very concerned that you're introducing a "motherload" in 8 hours. I assume you've purchased a relatively large quantity of corals/fish and are about to put them all in the tank. From the photo, your tank appears to have a significant algae/nutrient problem and a "motherload" is just going to increase the bioload and add to the problem. It's probably too late, but going slow and adding a piece or two at a time with a long period of time between additions is preferred. I would work hard in the coming days to get that algae/nutrient load under control. Frequent changes of large amounts of carbon, water changes, and improved flow are your tools.

+1 to what gary said man... from what I see it doesnt look ready and you should toss the check valve = a PITA. If your sump is too small to handle the load when the tank is off try raising the teeth on that drain. You need to also put holes in the return towards the top but inside the tank so when its off thye can breath and wont reverse siphon (all ideas to help get rid of that valve)

+1 gary... no check valves.... i would also lose the flex hose and use spaflex which is a flexiable pvc hose that can be glued.... i remember back in the day on my canister filter i had those flex hoses and they would fill up with detrius....just another nitrate factory..
