The African Sea Star is a striking and hardy marine invertebrate, prized for its star-shaped body and slow, graceful movements across the substrate. Ideal for established reef aquariums of 50 gallons or larger, it thrives in stable, well-oxygenated water with moderate flow and a sandy or rubble substrate for easy movement. African Sea Stars are scavengers, feeding primarily on detritus, biofilm, and leftover meaty foods, but they may require supplemental feeding in tanks with minimal natural food sources and Gamma Frozen Foods. Peaceful and reef-safe, they coexist well with non-aggressive tankmates, though care should be taken to avoid sharp or rough surfaces that can damage their delicate arms. With proper water quality, stable salinity, and consistent feeding, the African Sea Star becomes a vibrant, low-maintenance addition to marine aquariums.
