Anyone have any asterina starfish to give? I recently acquired a 12+ year old 30g tank which the owners thought it was a 50g but either way they had some in the tank and I have yet to see any now that I’ve had it setup for a month. I think I may have killed them off in the move and they were so cute!! Would love any extra if they have it

Cute is an adjective I would not use for Asterina starfish. In 55 years of reefing, I have had them in plague proportions. My biggest issue with them is their grazing on ornamental red macro algae: Bortacladia & Gracilaria Parvispora (Red Ogo).

Many use Harlequin shrimp as a control predator. I am not sure what eat mine.

@tosh27
Where are you located? I doubt that anyone would want to pay shipping cost.

They can get out of controll, and the ongoing debate if they are actually "reef safe".....one thing is for sure, people love them. Pretty much all non hobbyist are fascinated by the lil guys and is almost guaranteed to get a positive comment and spark some interest in the hobby...then the questions start...

I see this is your first thread and your second post on r2r. Welcome to the addiction.

What else is in your 30G captive reef?
