Atb 1050a 1.5v skimmer help

Hi everyone this is my first atb 1050a skimmer it keep overflowing on the cup and i have this skimmer set at 7.5 at water level. And the skimmer pipe is wide open still overflow should i run carbon to my tank or just let it like that to stop overflowing please help. If u guys have run one of those skimmer what is your water level in you sump.
 
My.sump is 8 inches of water, have u added anything to the tank , unplug from muffler on standpipe
 
how long will take to stop the overflow. should i add carbon it is help.
