I received my ATI ICP test results today. I am trying to make sense of their recommendations.

My total system volume is roughly 200 gallons, or as I've entered it into ATI: 757 liters.

For example, one I'm struggling with is Barium (because that's the only ATI supplement I see dosing instructions for)

My analysis shows a reading of 4.00 µg/l with a reference of 10.05 µg/l. I believe this means I should buffer this in the range of adding 6.05 µg/l.

The ATI recommendations show: Barium supplement per day 22.89 ml for 2 days. If I understand this correctly, this means to add 22.89 ml of the ATI Barium supplement for 2 days. Effectively adding 45.78 ml total buffering supplement.

However, if I look at the specs for the ATI Barium supplement, it says: 10ml per 26 gallons (100 liters) raising by 1 ug/l.

According to my quick calculations based on this, I would need to add roughly 75 ml of Barium supplement to raise my level by 1 ug/l. Considering I believe I need to add 6 ug/l, this is quite different from the ATI recommendations.

What am I missing here? Is my math wrong? Am I missing a unit conversion somewhere?

lol

OK, but I get a totally different number. Not sure why there are differences.

"10 mL per 26 gallons boosts barium by 1 ppb" (your copy of their claim)

So 10 mL in your 200 gallons raises barium by 0.13 ppb.

You want a rise of 6 ppb, so you add 10 x 6/0.13 = 461 mL

Yep, according to their Barium instructions I got around 450~ ml as well. Glad to know I wasn't going crazy and thanks for the validation.

You're welcome.

Happy Reefing. :)
