Where at on the gulf coast @ReefCheef ?

@Quiverfull i have had them for a few years. But I did have issues with them that you have heard about. I bought the used from a local guy, new boards on them (2018 stamped) and this was March of 18. Some of the leds didn’t work. I tried to replace them on my own with encouragement from James (orphek rep and some others). Didn’t work so I sent them out to be fixed. James was very helpful and gave me a break for the inconvenience. I then moved and didnt put them back up until last year. But I do enjoy the spread of them and the color as well.
I dont think you can go wrong with either choice.

R2R mods: can we PLEASE turn off the autocorrect on the site? It constantly is posting ridiculous things and then "correcting" it over and over again sometimes 5 times or more. Get rid of that crap!!
You can, i dont have mine on, but forget how i actually did it

@xabo i used 80/20 then got 4 inch screws. Mounted them through the lights and attached a nut to keep it snug. Then I put another screw and washer on to hold the light to the 80/20. I don’t remember the nut size. I can try to snap a closer picture if it would help.

@Big E , I may touch base with you next time I am up in your area to check out your Reefi Duo Extremes. I know you've had them for awhile but had not set them up. How long have you had them over your sps colonies?

I have one Reefi setup now for about 4 weeks to test out. At this point I can only give you feedback on coverage and ambient look. The shimmer is the best I've seen from LEDs if you want that MH look. It's very close to the same.

Orphek isn't going to give you that............I've seen them in person over tanks. Both the Reefi and the Orphek would need T5 or LEd strips to make me happy with coverage.

One to one Orphek is going to offer more coverage due to it's sheer size. If you can give me enough notice I may be able
to get you over to a friends tank who has Orpheks.

For a purchase/investment that you're considering I wouldn't do anything less than at least see these lights in person before you make a decision.

If you plan to buy some Led strips I have some brand suggestions as well you may want to consider when you're up here.

You can mount the Orpheks pretty high, if you reach out to Orphek direct they usually offer a discount if buying 2. You can do that setup but add some blue sky front and back and still come under the price of the Stratons. If you just want the best coverage for the dollar between Orphek and Stratons it will be the Stratons, but to warn you, coming from halide you will not get any shimmer from the Stratons.

The Orphek Helius program is a nice 14k with shimmer, my one gripe about the Stratons is they are more like T5's than anything else when looking at the tank. The Orpheks mounting post also slide perfect in 8020 15 Series, my picture is below, so mounting is very easy

Hi, could you share some pics of your fixture ? How the orphek’s nuts can slide into a 8020 15 series? Because the nuts are pretty huge. They are tall that is why? Thanks in advance
