I got two 2-1/2 gallon plastic jugs from Amazon. Drilled the cap in two places, used a rubber grommet around the cord from ACE’s Hardware Drawers. 2-1/2 gallons is my safe limit on what I would want dumped into my 65 gallon, in case something goes wrong. When I go on vacation, I do tandem two together, after cleaning the optical sensor.
Steve, could you send me some pics of that set up?

We used a Rubbermaid cereal container for my daughter’s ATO. Drilled holes in the lid for the wire/hose and the lid has a built-in door for quick and easy refills.

Might not work on a bigger tank but it’s plenty for her 10 gallon. I just use a 10 gallon petco tank for my 40B.

I am splurging to get a fancy one that matches my fancy sump on my new build, though.

Some of it is just expensive but the reality is that if that box shows up broken/scratches you'll get your money back. The seller will be out shipping, materials, and time which happens more often on those items.

Almost anything international is significantly more because of tariffs to protect US sellers.
Shipping is over double from two years ago.
Most material costs like clear acrylic & magnets are also exponentially higher.
Last but not least the US dollar has lost value making all these even more expensive.

People must be willing to pay those crazy prices, or they wouldn't be on the market. It's idiotic to me, but want what they want and don't care what it costs...

I just use standard glass aquariums for ato containers; usually a used tank for dirt cheap.

The innovative marine ato has enough bells and whistles for me to pay some cash

I was looking at trigger systems resivoirs and a few others brands. I reached out to a few co. About blemished ato resivoirs. Trigger had a few so I got one. Normally about 200 I got it a little below 100. With full warranty and free shipping.
