Ok, so the ATS I had put together when I had a 20L as my sump, just wouldn't cut it on my new, larger sump (the old one was spec'd to fit in the channels of the 20L, so no need for a mounting system).

I had this idea in my head for a couple of months before I got around to designing and printing it out. So I took some measurements, printed out a few test pieces to verify some things (like the strength the mounting bracket needed to hold everything) and then started the first "real" print. It's not perfect. I ended up having to print a spacer for the part where it mounts over the lip of the tank to raise it up out of the water a little more.............but it's ok, and seems to be working well.

I like it a lot because it eliminates that darn tray that I had to clean all the time and it feels a lot simpler (like old school ATS's were, just a little refinement done)

I "hate" it because I can't find any decent submersible LED's that are "off the shelf" available (which has always been my whole point in making ATS's), easily plug and play, and are inexpensive. Which makes this a bit of a failure, as the LED I'm using isn't ideal (it seems to be holding a seal when the return is off, and the power plug is high enough to not get wet..............but it's still not an ideal situation).

It's 2 main pieces (of course there's PVC, a bulkhead, stuff like that as well). The "bracket" that holds it on to the side of the sump, which also supports the pump, pvc, and screen. Then the "shell" that overs it all and supports the light. The "shell" slips over the "bracket" to hold it all snug.

Anyway, just thought I'd share.

Added a few more pics.

Also, when I designed this, I made a couple of holes to run a zip tie through to help support the vertical PVC if needed. I don't have one installed now, but I might add it as I think that it'll need it once growth really starts up.

It has this trippy "lava lamp" feel to it!
Addendum: Question - does the red LED promote algae growth?
I've seen and hear that the red spectrum grows algae better, and it's a grow light, so it came with that red/pinkish color, so I just roll with it.
