Aussie SPS; never seen this type before....

It has a ball shape, and looks like a normal acro, but the coralites come together in squares around the top of the coral. Really strange. I know it's from australia.

any ideas?

Reminds me of an efflo or soli, maybe different growth pattern due to the flow and other conditions in the area it was found.

Can see what you're talking about, think you are probably right, or maybe a. hyacinthus as Darryl mentioned.
