So I bought a Spyglass reactor when it came out and never had a chance to set it up. Recently, I saw that the Ultra Reef reactor came out and offered a somewhat similar solution to changing media. I know the Ultra Reef reactor is not out yet, but I was wondering what you guys thought about your Spyglass reactors and how easy it was to change and RINSE media. I'm really between these two reactors to run GFO and carbon. Still waiting on the Ultra Reef's to arrive to the states.

What do you guys think?

What I love about my spyglass
Turn off pump and lift media out
Nothing to disconnect no hoses or tedious pump connections.

Yeah, both reactors somewhat work that way. I would imagine that I can rinse the GFO media on the spyglass by shooting water from the bottom hole with a hose to move the media and rinse it by letting it overflow from the top. There would be less moving parts to deal with, like no sponges.

Hmmmm.....decisions, decisions.

Wondering the same

I bought the Ultra Reef reactor a while back and I really like it. It is built out of PVC and acrylic and is very solid. It is super easy to change the media. You just twist off the cylinder from the base and remove the sponges. To rinse the media, I place it in the reactor and then pour water with a water hose from the top of the reactor and it will drain down the other end.

Easily the best and easiest reactor I've ever used.

Love my Spyglass so much I bought a second one. To rinse carbon or gfo just get this rinsing lid.
