The title says it all, I wanna get me a little something this Christmas and the torch coral has cought my eye. All though I'm more interested in the inferno, dragon soul, hell fire torch, but not looking to break the bank again lol. I'm open to everything! Thank you in advance.

I don’t know what it is called- not one of the fancy named ones lol- and not as beautiful as some out there but I picked this up for $40 at my lfs. It’s grown a bit but still thought $40 was great! The little one next to it I got from a local reefer for trade for a few test kits - so there are some relatively cheap ones that aren’t bad I mean it’s no dragon soul but it’s pretty and people who don’t know reefing think it’s amazing lol

It's the fancy names that get a lot of us! Lovely torch, maybe just maybe I'll find one for that price.

Scratch that lovely shot of you tank!

I just have to point out that I thought I'd never see the day that someone has to justify a torch purchase as a xmas present because of the price.

Marketing has found a cozy place to roost in this hobby. Back in the day we labeled torches by their color, brown or green tip. Now the brown is labeled gold and yellow, and add the words like dragon to their names and the price skyrockets.

Something I will never understand is something that was given to me for free and then grew like a weed could command so much money.

Don't be discouraged by the prices. I have seen the days where torches went for 40 bucks a head all day long and skyrocket to dragon soul and Holygrail prices (I have seen these prices go down since the beginning of the year). Keep an eye out for local reefers and buy OR perhaps do trades. It may not happen by x-mas but you will find something you love and save some bucks in the process.

I got this double head NYKnicks for 300.00 from @galactic_coral . It was not completely well so it was cheaper than normal price of about 175-200 per head. It is a very beautiful Torch and is doing beautifully in my sump. The tissue was receding on the stem when I got it. I t was not for sale becasue of it but I told Mike that I get it anyway. It already grew about 2 mm and tissue started to cover the stem. It looks beautiful under blue light, but I keep my tank under natural balance white light.
