AWC for Remote Nano Tank

I have decided to setup a IM 15g nano tank in my home office and I would like to setup automatic water exchange between the nano and the main 142g in living room through pair of 1/4" RO lines. I am wondering how much volume would need to exchanged daily from the nano to support a few LPS and some fish. Any input would be appreciated!

It’s an all in one tank right? So there’s no minimum water volume you’d need to exchange, you could exchange 0 water and still support a couple fish and LPS because the tank itself and all in one, meaning you could have it run all by itself. I’m assuming you just want to plumb it to your big tank to increase total volume thereby decreasing the impact of small fluctuations by increasing the system size? How are you planning to move the water back and forth, with a Kamoor dosing pump or something?

Yes, it is the AIO. So my goal is to have an office tank to enjoy, since that is where I spend most of the day, but still avoid most of the work required to maintain a second tank. Main tank's filtration will be able to easily absorb the extra bio-load. The expectation is to pump water in and out using peristaltic pumps while keeping level fixed with level sensors, using something like Hydro Minnow, GHL Doser 2.2 Maxi or even kamoer AWC unit.

The question is how much turn over would I need. I know the general rule for reef tank turn over with sump is 5x but that is not possible to do quietly with 1/4" lines. Nano would have a heater and maybe a UV unit.

Yes, but I am not sure it will do much without filtration in the back chamber. A continuous duty 60ml/min pumps would exchange out 24 gallons per day.

Oh gotcha, in that case I’d do as much as the pump allows. The good thing about it is if it’s not working the way you want you can just add an easy filter pad to the AIO.
