As some know I stepped out of the hobby and went into dart frogs......

I still lurk and answer PMs, still do Mod stuff once in awhile but the guy's we have now are quick so I am usually late getting to it....Hands up to them.

I have started expanding my collection quite a bit and have started breeding one species and will be breeding some more once pairs get sorted.

I wanted to share some new pick ups with me old mates on R2R.....

I got these the other day.....

3 R.flavovittata this is pics of 2 of them

Those are awesome always been a fan of frogs could you maybe explain mor about your set up?!?

VERY cool. Do they make any noise at night like other frogs? Just curious as I like the sound.

Thanks, there isn't much that compete with the colors of corals and marine fish but these dart frogs really give them a run for their money....

These are in QT right now.....The actual vivariums haven't been completed yet. The QT tanks are basiclly river pebbles with screen over that and leaf litter over that. I also have a bunch of differant cuttings of plants and some bromeliads for hiding and security. They will stay like this till I get 3 negative fecal test, which basiclly means they don't have any parasitic infections if I get a ositive test then I will have to treat them and toss the plants etc once they test again 3 negitive test. Which gives me time to build their vivariums. Hopefully I get 3 negitive test.....

Here is a thread I have on the construction of my first viv which was my reef tank....A bit of a read but not bad as to explain my set-ups.....They will all follow the basic idea.

Not really they call during the day.....I have a 3 males in 3 differant vivariums that call pretty much all day. Especially if they are calling to breed, then the call changes depending on what stage of breeding the pair is in. In the species I have the females don't call. They kinda sound like a cricket but much more enjoyable.

Glad to hear things are going well with the Dart frogs. I really love the colors on the R. variabilis. I showed my wife your build thread when you first switched and the first things she said was, "Don't even think about it!" LOL.

Those are awesome little frogs James! Glad to see you enjoying the new hobby!

Nice. You have some fat frogs mate :)

I'm still doing my 3 little orange lamasi and they're doing really good. I think one of my new favorite things is finding little mushrooms pop up over night in the viv.

I find mine call whenever they feel like..which almost seems like 24 hours a day :P Sometimes they do it in the middle of the night when it's completely dark and sometimes they do it throughout the day. When I play call of duty there is a gun on there that sort of sounds like their call and they call back to the gun :P

Those are really cool, makes me kind of want some. Probably not a good idea for me to start up though, I have a very curious nine month old.

That's cool....Haven't seen you on the dart forums in awhile glad to see they are doing good for you. Mine I hardly see hopefully now that they are out of QT they will settle in their new viv and be out and about. I have some gray tree frogs that really like Dora and Diego not sure what it is but when they come on for my daughter and foster son the male goes nuts calling.

The pre-made vivs have a spot where you can lock them.....They are not poisonous since they are captive bred. If they were wild caught frogs it would be a couple months or so and the poison would eventually dissipate.

Very cool James, nice to see some of what you are collecting now.

LoL you wouldn't catch me dead on the Dart Frog forums anymore.. I don't know how so many idiotic personalities can gather in one forum... It's like having a thousand of that one guy that used to be here... :P

I would visit if I had a quick question that needed an immediate answer or I wanted to purchase some more frogs..but I solve most of my own problems, got tons of springs/isos/flies growing all over my apartment so I don't feel like I really need to go back there.

No worries...Wait till you see the next ones I have coming in a couple weeks....Get my first set of O. pumilio

Oh hey guy, nice to see you over here :D

Hey T

Didn't know you were into Reefs too? Kinda funny how many people do both or have......Man I forgot about this thread, guess I should update it now there have been more added to the collection.

Yeah, I was into FW for awhile first (have a 90G cycling in the frogroom for a big group of Botia kubotai and probably some giant danios), only have a 20G reef but cycling a 46 to move everything into. Just picked up a mantis shrimp tonight, so it looks like I'll be keeping the 20 after all the corals make the switch :D More of a lurker here than anything else, but I'm around occasionally. Update!
