I think pineapple sponge too. They are a harmless filter feeder.

Harmless (beneficial in fact), they usually show up in lower light areas. Do you have any in your sump, overflow? When I got mine there was a couple hundred that appeared.

Have you tried touching it? You should be able to tell if it's a nem by touch.
