I know this was posted a long time ago but I am plumbing my tank and was wondering why not just have the loc line sit just above the water surface? that way no water can get sucked up
oh never mind haha I just read your other post
I'm assuming I just described what you called an "air gap"

I've tried this and it just created an annoying water splashing sound. Then, right below the water line the nozzle sucks air. Both annoying.
