Tank is about 2 years old and not sure if it was a coincident, I was kinda plucking away some hair algae in my sump and disturbed the caulerpas for like few mins, looked up BOOM! I got a bloom!

I got this a lot in my mini pond so does the 120g, maybe 3-5 times a year.

I usually do a water change and it seems help.

what would you do?

Could the Caulerpa have discharged gametes, “gone sexual”?

Yeah unless something big died (or not big but you have no scavengers) or you just never change the mechanical filter, I would think maybe it's the caulerpa?

Might also be fine, suspended detritus that was caught in the algae. If the Caulerpa went sexual, it would turn white and melt away.
