Why is a bagel not sliced all the way through? I don't feel like I should have to finish the job they started at the bakery. Look at a hamburger bun and do it the same way!

Bagels are cut, with a completely different type of machine, than any other bread product. The cutter has 2 blades, which cut through, from each side. To keep the blades from coming in contact with one another, wearing the blades down quickly, the blades stop, just short of center, leaving a small area uncut.
Hamburger buns aren't actually sliced. Each side is baked, with a thin divider between the two. They're already separate. /QUOTE]
Uh uh! Next you'll be telling me a loaf of bread is not sliced, just 20 pieces baked and fitted together so that every crease and crack lines up! :what:
