I've read a fair bit about this and while banana eel is reef safe, it may go after crustaceans or small fish. I don't have any shrimp in my reef aquarium, but I do have a few smaller fish - clowns, royal gramma.
I got this eel from a friend who's had it for some time, says that if you feed it twice a week, no issues whatsoever.
What do you think, should I risk it? It would really help if you could speak from experience!

This is the eel

And this is the aquarium (7 feet long)

My banana eel has no interest in fish. I cant even get him to take silversides. However, I know someone who ha one that will eat everything. So, your mileage may vary
