Hi there

I received a shipment this afternoon that included a banded coral shrimp. He had two claws when I put him in, one an hour later and now has none!

I'm guessing something is ripping them off.
Thinking either a fire shrimp or my goby who's a bully to all the inverts.

Anyways anything I can do? Or is he a goner.

Cheers

Sometimes they lose claws due to stress, mine lost one in shipping. They can still use the smaller set to eat and they regrow quite fast.

My cbs only uses the big claws to murder my cleanup crew, break coral and pinch tentacles off expensive anemones so cherish the time where he doesnt have any aha.

They’ll grow back. Next time it molts it’ll have two new claws, they’ll be really small, but will grow with each subsequent molt until they are normal sized. I have a coral banded shrimp right now that I got with no claws, it could still catch food and pick at the rocks, they don’t use their claws to feed really except to aid in grabbing stuff out of the water column, just feed it some sinking pellets until it molts and it will be fine.

I have him in my sump, noticed a few days ago that he has new claws!

I'm about to go away for a week so I'm gonna leave him where he is but will put him back in the DT when I get back.
