banded longfin basslet ideas

Hello!

I purchased a banded longfin basslet about 2 weeks ago from my LFS, I have a 36 gallon display and have seen him about 5 times. I know they are a more shy fish and tend to hide, but was wondering if anybody had any ideas or experiences on helping them acclimate, or feel more comfortable in the tank? I know he is eating as I have seen him in the rocks when I feed the tank.

I have him, a maroon clownfish, a tailspot blenny, a six line wrasse, and a sleeper banded goby. The longfin basslet is the 2nd largest behind the sleeper goby. I also have a peppermint shrimp, primarily sps corals, with a few LPS and zoas. As well as a cleanup crew.

Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated! He is a gorgeours fish I'd love to be able to show off!

The maroon clown and sixline wrasse are known aggressors. Most bass are timid. Mixing them leads to the basslet hiding. Your tank is rather small to house these aggressive fish and any new fish will likely be harassed.

I know both are known to be aggressive, but I have seen little to none out of those two. Believe it or not but the tailspot has been more territorial/aggressive then either! That little guy is feisty

While those 2 can be aggressive, a banded logfin basslet hides, thats what they do. I've had a couple of cases where customers thought theirs died only to find them months or years later.
