Hey I want a wrasse in my tank for doing a bit of hunting in my barebottom SPS tank.

Current fish stock is

White Tail Tang
Lawnmower blenny
2 designer clowns

I plan on getting a one spot foxface

I'm nervous to add a 6line as they are known to be such jerks and pink streaks are notoriously bad shippers. Is there a good option out there for me?

Thanks,

Most of the pest control wrasses sleep in the sand, the other ones look pretty. Possibly a 6-line? I've had some in sand and some not in sand. Only issue is they can be huge d**ks.

thats the problem.. 6-lines are just d**ks and I dont wanna risk it though...
And pink streaked is very rare here in my place..

Yeah, the pink streaked is hard to come by here as well. I've seen maybe 1 in stock in the last 2 years of me looking. The banded possums don't really do anything either for pest control from my experience, aside from pods. In my QT tanks for my Halichoeres sp. I keep a little container with sand in it. Possibly do this and hide it behind rockwork if you're having just 1 wrasse?

I highly suggest no six line. People say theirs is good but I’ll bet money it hasn’t matured yet. With a bare bottom stay away from sand sleepers. Stick to fairy’s or flashers. Pink streak is good. I recommend getting wrasse qt’ed and or conditioned. Than they will ship and acclimate better. Shipping comes down to the place selling the fish and getting them healthy and strong before shipping.
I recommend Eric from among the reef or TSM aquatics. Their are others but I personally haven’t used them.

I have 3-6 lines in 3 different tanks.
My 45 frag systems 6 line is over 2 years old.
6 line in my 30g fuge and a 6 line in my 20g nano cube. I must be the lucky one as over the year have never had an issue.
I think the issue is what other fish you have in your system but again its only from my point if view.

+1 to the Pink Streak, these are perfect hunters for “pests”. This is my old guy, he was a beautiful fish and did the best job at cleaning pests in comparison to some of my other wrasses (Iridis).

Great shot! Looks like a chunk!
He was for sure! I’m tempted on grabbing another (if not a trio) along with some other wrasses for my 3’ nano.

Dude I love six lines! Idk why everyone hates em. Lol. U could try an 8 line wrasse too.
I'd have a six line in my current tank if my purple tang wouldmt chase em. I like em. He or she does not. Lol
