Ok, so here goes :)

Today is Day 122 for the BBG BioCube32 but I will try to go from the beginning.

I've made some questionable decisions and have been fairly whimsical and haphazard with a lot of stuff but I've lucked out quite a bit and I think and kept track of most of it. Maybe we will see if I am crazy, dumb or both ^^ ? Still having a blast :p

I am grateful to have a place to put this, thank you!

Day 1 - May 17, 2019

Disclaimer: I have no idea what I’m doing here. I bought this BioCube 32 on an impulse because my niece told me she wanted to be a marine biologist. Bought 2 pieces of live rock and cooked them accidentally with salt. I put all the salt in and filled the tank with spring water from the store :p Found a dead thingy that I learned was a bristle worm.

So my Day 1 wasn't great... no idea what the heck I was doing, but it is also a great example of how not to do it!

I basically just poured in my Hawaiian black gravel, poured the salt on top, dumped 32 gallons of store bought water into it, and plugged it in.

I then ran to the LFS and bought 2 live rocks, came home and put them in the newly circulating tank before I realized that I had a high density salt pool at the bottom of my tank from the fact that I had put the salt in first and it had never mixed. So that cooked the liverocks a little bit hence the dead critters.

Keep in mind, up to this point I had just about zero research on salt water aquariums, but I did have a bunch of african cichlids when I was in college 25 years ago... and I have spent a lot of time at Holiday Inn Expresses.

At this point, a light bulb went off in my head that I should use the interwebs to possibly learn some stuff going forward :)

On Day 2 I purchased 3 more live rocks. There was a red mushroom hitchhiker on one rock and a pineapple sponge on the other. Very cool! I'm not sure why my LFS didn't tell me not to, but I bought an emerald crab and put him in.

There's a feather duster worm.

I added a large dry rock as well. Everything is going great!
