Man I really want to get an offset grill but I know I'll do better with a pellet smoker. Anyone using a
Yoder?
I just picked up a Yoder pellet grill last month. The thing is fantastic!

Which model did you get? How easy is it to get a steady temp? Anything you would have done differently?

YS640. I would have ordered it a year or two ago.

Actually, I have found the upgraded heat diffuser with access door to be a must have accessory. Not sure why it isn't standard. That, and the grill grates, I think are well worth getting with the initial order. Especially if you like cooking chicken wings since you can smoke them and then crisp the skin with the same setup.

Temperature is very steady. It will fluctuate 15 degrees or less depending on wind. The average is very close to the setpoint.

All things BBQ have a Yoder griddle plate now. You can also turn the thermo grill grates upside down if you want to do steaks or flat iron grilling. I will be smoking a turducken for Super Bowl on my 640!!!

For Christmas I got The rub of the month club or something like that...
Supposed to get some snow tonight. Might be a good time to go out and fire up the grill...

I want a green egg..

I'll be smoking wings tonight on mine. Will likely do ribs and wings for the SB

enjoy the rubs, and see what you like and start making your own. While there are some great quality rubs out there (Plowboys yardbird, 3 eyze, and harry soo come to mind) unfortunately the economics of commercial rubs results in rubs that are primarily salt.
