It seems folks are very interested in knowing if there is a name of their zoanthid. Before you post a new thread asking for the name of yours, here are some resources you can check:

Reef2Reef Coral Database
https://www.reef2reef.com/showcase/category/zoanthids-jps-database.3/
There are over 100 zoanthids pictured here. You can quickly scroll through and see if yours is there.

Zoabrary

This site allows you to search based on colors of the different parts of the zoa. It isn't foolproof, but it gets you pretty close.

If you've taken the time to look through these resources and still can't find your zoanthid post a thread and include a picture. It is critical that your picture be as close to the actual look as possible. Here are some tips:

1. Turn down the blue and turn up the white lights. It's almost impossible to make an ID on an all blue image.
2. Get close to the zoanthid when you take your picture, don't just zoom in and crop the image. A pixelated image is hard to ID from.
3. Make sure the polyps are in focus. The difference between some zoanthids is nuanced and speckles versus stripes can be all it takes.

There are folks here who want to help, but please don't just post a picture or series of pictures with 5+ different zoanthids. It just makes us think you didn't even try to find the answer yourself.

There have been several times now where I thought to myself, "Surely there must be a way to use modern image recognition software to build a technical solution to this need"... But then I get pulled off to other things that pay the bills...

Thanks for the links!
