Beginner misconceptions in reefing?

Alright, are there any misconceptions that beginners might have with reefing? Some that should be avoided altogether, or maybe something that is actually true. Just curious to hear everyone's thoughts
 
I think a lot of beginners see the Uber blue actinic frag racks at the LFS and assume everyone runs heavy blue you can have a more natural white look if you like.
