I feel as though there are a lot of misconceptions about clownfish and anemones, especially since Finding Nemo is what drew a lot of people into the hobby when it first came out. My biggest personal pet peeve is when people say the clownfish hosts the anemone, when in actuality it's the opposite were the anemones or coral will host the clownfish.
One thing that I think about is not all anemone species are able to pair with clownfish. A lot of them will exclusively predate on them such as tube anemones or rock flower anemones.
Another misconception is that all clownfish will pair up with any species of hosting anemone, there are a lot of species of clownfish and some of them have particular tastes in what they will and won't pair with. Some species are more lax when it comes to this like maroon clownfish, in my experience I have had multiple species of anemone that they paired up with without issue.
Some people will also say that captive-bred clownfish are less likely to pair with anemones as well, for this I don't have much experience with as almost all of my clown fish were captive-bred and I haven't had any issues. Sometimes it takes a while for them to take to a anemone, but over time they'll get it.

Any other misconceptions you have had experience with or heard of?

My experience with occelaris is that they took to a magnifica in a few hours.
