Like any waste, it will be consumed by the tank. It is such a small amount I do not worry about it.

Thanks for all the replies. I ended up buying two berghias and threw them into the built-in filtration chamber… I keep chaeto there, and with the additional light, quite a lot of aiptasia settled there as well. It hasn’t been a week, and they already laid some eggs in there. The little nudis can just enter the tank when they hatch from there. I figured my CBS will probably just ignore them, since they don’t eat aiptasia either. My only issue will be to provide enough aiptasia once they mow it all down in the display and to keep it alive long enough to make sure that they got every single trace of aiptasia.

So I ended up moving the two adults to the main display and just the two of them already had a good impact on my aiptasia problem. I was fortunate enough that they bred a few times in the tank and produced quite a few extra Berghias to battle even the last aiptasia. My breeding efforts in an extra tank weren’t as successful, lots of eggs but due to limited time (writing my thesis) and resources (aiptasia) I was unsuccessful in raising the little babies myself. Unfortunately with the aiptasia gone (for good, absolutely zero encounters since) I lost those little guys as well.
