What’s the best HOB filter to use on a 10 gallons nano shallow (7” height) tank? Would love to hear your experience and recommendations. Some of them have very long intake which will make it not suitable for the tank.

Haven't used a HOB filter in a long long time but when I did.. I had a little 3g Pico tank and used an AquaClear 75 I believe is the name of it.. Trimmed off a couple of the impellers to slow down flow and used it as a fuge essentially.. I don't remember... Might've even been a 110 lol

How did it go? I was wondering about the Oases Biomaster 250 canister filter—is it too much for what a 10-gallon tank? Do you have any other suggestions?

It worked great.. It was the 70 I had I think for sure.. But depends what you're trying to get out of it is all.. Hob for 10 gallon tank would be fine idk about that canister filter it seems to be more for a bigger tank.. But then again the 70 I used on a 3 gallon was way over powered.. I simply trimmed off 3 of the 6 impellers for the return.. Don't know how you can dial down a canister filter but a hob would be alot cheaper as well.. Never used a canister filter so can't help you there in that route.. Sorry

I have an aqua clear that has been running on a freshwater tank for 20 years. That’s all I used back in the 90s. I highly recommend!
